Post Upgraded I/C experiences

I am awaiting a SFR front mount for the 951, got the GURU chips, profec-b, Lindsey dual port, Lindsey BOV, full Fabspeed exhaust, K&N cone and all the susp. goodies. Just wanted to hear what to expect with this ugrade, On my race car the I/C efficiency and pressure drop are real important for top end power and spool up.

I have the Lindsey stage 5 intercooler on my race car .. it works great. Not sure why u went with the SFR unit.
I have a large garret turbo, custom intake, highly worked head ..etc, etc ... very fast. Good luck with the car.

i was incredibly happy w/ my lindsey stage 1 unit, and expect to really love the stage 5 (i felt it was more appropriate w/ the other things i've done intake / turbo / head / stroker / exhaust / etc wise... ) - i chose lindsey for 3 reasons, one, i could trade up, two, stock mounting location (although you need a dif. header panel for the stage 5, no big deal for me as i was replacing mine anyway) and third, i've given them a lotta business and haven't had a single lindsey product i wasn't thrilled with. I've just started doing business w/ Tim, he seems to be a good vendor too, but frankly the price dif. for his IC vs me trading up to the lindsey stage 5 was prohibitive for me (i'm working on my sr. thesis film right now, gotta cut back on 951 expenditures lol)

i would think you will experience a bit more pressure drop / slightly slower spool perhaps (don't quote me) just due to the IC being larger + more piping? but i bet the improved IC-out temps will make that worth it. I have zero experience w/ Tim's front mount, but w/ the exception of people's (unconfirmed) concerns about raised water temps, I would imagine it's a great product, wouldn't this kinda question be better to ask _before_ buying?

With less pressure drop you will get better spool up. Also with signifigant cooling gains you will get more timing(better response and spool up). I just wanted to see if anyone has used the product also. I have full confidence that Tim'sI/C will work great.

Have you changed your turbo? If not, you probably won't notice much with a stock turbo.

The stock unit is pretty good as it is though, there are plenty of people that are using them with pretty powerful cars.

I have the Lindsey stage 5 intercooler on my race car .. it works great. Not sure why u went
with the SFR unit.

I can list a few reasons:

It was dyno proven to deliver at least 14 horsepower.
It is much more efficient then the stock core so it flows more air.
It does not require a new nose panel.
It has no affect on the CD. of the car.
It uses a Spearco core.
It looks stealth so it doesnt attract attention.
It has had no impact on coolant temps (regardless of what our competition says).
It is priced at $1095.

the new nose panel would stray me away from any intercooler upgrade. I love lindsey, but man that nose panel is hideous. it really looks like a mac track and totally ruins the lines of the car. I would do anything to keep it stock looking up front. my .02

i love the new header panel. I guess it's a love it / hate it kinda thing.

IMHO i beleive the stock intercooler is excellent. Powerhaus even uses stock 944 turbo IC's on their 968 turbo conversions.

I'm thinking about the lindsey header panel w/ my stock IC and make my own ducting.

I'd have to side with Sam Grant... I think the header panel is Butt ugly, and ruins the "lines" of the front end.

I'm not sure of what you mean... but I think the Lindsey products are great in general. That includes their stage 5 intercooler, although I've never tried one.

The thing is that I won't have a "snorkle" look on the front of my 951's. I just don't like the looks.

Furthermore, I think you could easily get an aftermarket intercooler that won't require changing the front end of the car.

i like my new nose panel... *shrugs* matter of opinion. and i'd love to see #s on the CD issue, i bet its quite negligible.

tim, you and lindsey REALLY need to bury the hatchet, competition is one thing, bickering, quite another beast. i know it's not all you, in fact i bet its pretty close to 50-50, but at least post factual info if you're gonna knock your competitor’s products I know someone (them? not sure) said things about your IC causing cooling issues, if that's not true and is unfounded slander, fine, i can see being pissed, but no need to retaliate, makes you look bad instead of them.

btw, lindsey uses a spearco core too i believe...
