If the engineers and marketing department at Porsche had any sense, with today's gas prices, poor economy and shortage of fossil fuel, they would look into a modern day 944 turbo or 968, a 4 cylinder which would be economical and powerful at the same time, they would increase their profits and produce a car that is affordable to more people worldwide (not to mention more appealing)...

As regards the price point, the base Boxster starts around $48k, the Cayman just a tick over $50k. Those cars produce mid 200s in HP. So if Porsche were to make a lower priced, entry level sports car in the $30k range, it would need significantly less HP so as not to perform better than the 987 range and cause customers to shift to a lower priced/lower margin substitute. So, then you're looking at a 220 hp car for $35k base. And it will be competing with the 370z that has 330hp for the same money, the Hyundai Genesis for sub $30k with more power, and the forthcoming Subaru/Toyota collaboration likely in the mid $20k range, not to mention the almighty Mazda MX5 in the $20k range.
If you're looking for a cheaper sporty coupe/cab from the VW/Porsche/Audi conglomorate, there's the TT. Not cheap or I4 ish enough? Try a GTI. Alternatively, you can look at sales volumes for the TT or the now departed S2k and ask yourself if there is a market for a low 200hp car at the $35k price point.
The Boxster Spyder and Cayman R are the complete package. They are the 964 RS America or 993 C2S of the 987 range. Desirable for the right reasons.
Also, that car is rolling 18" first gen Cayman S wheels. Nice...

I said this once I say it again, there are two kinds of drivers out there the ones that pilot 951's and the rest the mundane the mere mortals.

What surprises me most is that you were taking photographs while you were driving.
There's gonna be a cross and flowers on the side of the road where you got killed. How is taking pictures better than talking on a cell phone/texting?
