How do I get my sunroof out?
#2
open the sunroof a bit first, then, close it, ALL THE WAY, keep holding down the switch. When closing, the little latches go all the way back, releaseing the sunroof, if you hold down the button long enough.
Now you can push up on the sunroof, and remove it.

You need to have the ignition in position 1 (pos 2 is run, pos 3 is start).
To raise/lower the sunroof, the key needs to be in position 2.
First lower the sunroof all the way with the key in pos 2. Then move the key to pos 1 and hit the sunroof UP button, if you look at the lifting arms you should see them retract. When you see them fully retracted, let go of the button. (If the slip clutch at the motor is adjusted properly this isn't necesary, but if not, you'll strip sunroof gears...though in an '86 I'm not sure if you have this problem as the mechanism changed in '87).
So, the key to it is that the key has to be in pos 1 to remove the sunroof.

LOL.. great heaters indeed. I usually close all vents for a mile, then open the windshied and main center vent on full hot with the fan on 1 or 2 for MAYBE 2 miles before I have to turn the fan off, the heat to about the midle and open the sunroof to vent the hot air (on 30deg mornings). A/C works just aswell..
That's certainly one of the few things I absolutly love about this car.

Rod:
So you bought it! Congratulations. These are great cars.
One caution, do not reset the trip meter while the car is moving! If it has an owners manual read that too. It will explain the somewhat confusing, initially anyway, climate control slides and other functions.
