Hello everybody,
As I came back home early this evening, my car (87 951, stock) started to make some noise from the rear end. First it sounded like a ...medium exhaust leak. Then I saw that it's only in second gear, it increases as I accelerate and it almost disappear as I lift off the throttle. In all other gears it runs normally without a problem. It's like a grind but not like a bad syncro, it has a much smaller frequency than that.
Did anyone had a problem like this before?

I opened the transmission today and what I found wasn't good news. It's a broken tooth from the input shaft witch drives the second gear. Transmission fluid was changed about a year ago when I replaced the cv shafts and input shaft seal. Oil was Mobil 75W90 syntetic and as you can see it;s very dark and it has a lot off air bubbles witch far from ideal for a lubricant.

You guys think that I can use an 944 n/a main shaft in a turbo box if I change all the gear wheels but retain the turbo pinion and ring? My transmission it's 5P and the n/a transmission it's QK.
