Tail-light options
I'm all set to buy a 944 turbo, done plenty of research into pros/cons/mods/etc... but one thing I couldn't find was options available on the taillights. You see, I think the style of the lights is one of the few physical downsides of the 944.
Does anybody have any examples of after-market modifications to the light assembly? For example, darkened guards.... anything that masks the (in my opinion) relatively unattractive beehive style.

I am interested to see what is to be said about this. I tend to agree.
I am thinking of Spraying mine with Slot car window tinting paint.
Maybe its possible to adapt 968 lights? This would obviously require some bodywork.

Yeah I agree the tailights aren't too attractive,
<a href="http://www.toysforyourtoys.com" target="_blank">www.toysforyourtoys.com</a> 's redouts look really nice and you keep the white reverse to stay legal. I will probably get it once I have enough money to use on cosmetics. But for now...saving ahhhh.

You are right in being worried, because once you get a 951 all they are going to see is your tail lights.... <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Here's what a can of Testors Candy Apple Red Translucent paint and some masking tape can do for about $3:

Whoa sm! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
Lookin good, any more insight into how you did it? Did you take the light housing apart and spray the inside? Or what? Thanks!

I wish those Peter Pan lights would have popped up sooner. I would have gone with that design instead
For the lowly red lights, here's what I did:
-Make sure it's warm and dry out! It started raining midway through the process for me.
-Lights stay ON the car.
-Lightly sanded the turn-signal lens with medium
grit sandpaper.
-Washed everything off with dishwashing soap.
-Masked off all the lens except the corner lens
with newspaper and generic masking tape. An X-
Acto or hobby knife is helpful in this.
-Using Testors #1605 Candy Apple Red (I think that's the name) Translucent paint, spray thin coats and let dry in between coats. Repeat until you get the desired color. I suggest you turn on the blinkers after each coat so you have an idea how much paint is on the lens.
-Let the paint completely dry before you take the tape off.
-Tip from high-school art class: Start and stop spraying the paint when you've passed the object you're trying to paint. This prevents uneven coats of paint.
-Have some paint thinner handy just in case.

Wow how simple <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />
Wait..did you mask off any of your paint? Seems like if you start and stop after passing the lens you'd spray onto your body paint...
Welps found my next project
