koni yellows on my 86?

Factory option code M474, optional upgraded struts/shocks. Check the option code sticker aunder the carpet near the spare tire to find out if your car was ordered with this option. Otherwise, they were an upgrade.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Koni yellows were a option that the Original owner had selected with the car. When I bought my car the shocks were and still are very solid. Waterguy is correct option M474 Sport Shocks is what to look for.

I believe that the M474 struts are not externally adjustable for rebound damping (must be removed and adjusted by fully compressing and turning, similar to rear shocks), while the M030 stuts are externally adjustable. I believe that the current replacements are dual-adjustable (Skip?)

Just FYI the M474 Yellow Konis are not the same as the regular aftermarket Yellow Koni's (Sports). A well known Porsche tuner told me that the valving is different. So if you don't have the yellow koni's, buy the replacement sports koni's. Don't buy used M474's.

Thanks for your replies i dont seem to have the 474 option and in my haste in posting i didnt even bother to look under the rear Now that i have <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> i see Koni reds on the rear and Yellow on the front it looks pretty, but what would be the purpose of such a set up?

The rear shocks were probably replaced later when the supply of yellow Konis were exhausted perhaps?
Anyway, does anyone have impressions of comparing the Paragon hacksaw Konis to either the Porsche M030 or M474 versions?

koni sold red shocks thru automotion and others, these were a tad less pricey then the orig. yellow one with the m474 option like mine came with, the dealers sell the yellow ones, and it seems aftermarket sells red ones, i tried to keep the yellow with yellow and i went to boge or something yellow rear shocks when my shocks gave, if you really want yellow ones call paragon for the details

also jay wouldnt most people replace both fronts at the same time? hence why does it matter about what kind of strut to go with in the front, just pick the cheaper of the 2, plus the m474 ones have been eliminated from production as ive been told more than once

I managed to find front M474 (Porsche ref confirmed by the PET) a while ago and a friend has just purchased his last week through an independant Porsche specialist...
