Default Sway Bars?

I thought all Turbo's had the 26.8 mm swaybar stock? I just looked at Clarks garage and it seems that they don't. It says 22.5mm front is stock. That seems pretty small. I haven't checked mine yet, but how much of a benefit would a 26.8 MM swaybar make over the one I currently have?

It would help. I think of all the mods I have done to my car the single best one is going to 968 MO30 sways. For a street car I'd do sways and lowering springs (alignment) and be done. Front MO30 is 30mm I think.

944 Turbo M030 front is 26.8mm. 968 M030 front is 30mm. LR is making their own 30mm front bars now and the price is reasonable. These can be difficult to come by on the used market.

i switched to a 26.8 on my turbo and didn't really notice much difference over the stock bar. actually i'm not even sure what size the stock bar is. i'll measure it next time i go to storage. i thought it was somewhere around 24 though. just looked at the porsche parts microfiche and it says 24mm for the 86 951 and 25.5 for 87 and later 951's and of course 26.8 for the m030. if i had to do it again, i would just get the 30mm although i got my 26.8 for very cheap on ebay....

I went from a 24mm to a 26.8 on my NA 944S and the difference was dramatic.

I paid like $40 for the bar--bang for the buck is huge, and therefore the price of disappointment is low...

I went from what I think was a 19mm front and no rear bar on my 924S to a 26.8mm front and 18mm rear... it was a whole new car! Then I added 250lb front springs with adjustable perches and Bilstein's all the way around... that car was a blast on the track for a "street" car.

My Turbo already has the M030 suspension, but it still feels a little soft compared to the 924S. I must have gotten used to those stiffer front springs, even though these springs shouldn't be that far off. But I do know that it doesn't take much for these cars to feel very well planted for spirited driving or occasional track use.

Just replaced my sway bar bushings and noticed a bit of a difference. I would assume the 30/19mm bars would definitely make a difference.

Interestingly I have a 25.5mm front sway bar which I thought was not available on an'86 951. Must have been swapped out by PO.

Delrin bushings and kla braces really help, the diff was quit noticable even with my 25.5 front bar.

Good point. I uses some sort of poly bushings when I put the 26.8mm bar on the 924S. I bet that helped a lot by removing the softness at initial turn-in. The car had great feel mid-corner too... very easy to steer with the right foot.

I think that was the best upgrade for the money PERIOD
I paid out the ying yang, for the 968 MO30, because I bought them back in 1990....
But as others said, worth every penny ... Best bang for the buck .. etc
