Red '86 Turbo bought recently in Dallas?
While I was at Zims yesterday picking up a pile of parts, Kirk mentioned to me that a guy was in recently buying a few parts for a pristine 68,000 mile red 944 Turbo that he had just purchased. That sounds like the car my brother test drove in Dallas recently.
So... Is the new owner on Rennlist? Kirk said the owner has (or had) at least a 914 and a 928, so he's not new to Porsches. Just trying to figure out if we a new 944 Turbo owner in the Dallas area to include in GTG or Sunday drive plans.

Not everyone seems as social as some of us. Three times I've spotted 951s local and left a card with contact info and explain "i have one of these too..." but no response. Maybe they think I'm a stalker. More locals on these old girls is good.

For whatever reason I have run into a number of 968 owners in the last year or so that aren't affiliated with PCA, POC or any internet forums. When I bring up that there are large followings of enthusiasts that get together to enjoy these cars I usually get a response about how they aren't interested in any of that. Funny that you would buy something exclusive like a Porsche (one of them was the original owner of their 93 968!) and yet be completely disinterested in finding a group to enjoy them with.

Kirk said he thinks the new owner is already a Rennlist member... who knows. Maybe he's here but not looking at this forum yet.

Matt, I know you got the note from Rick also about the Coffee deal this weekend but like me, you were tied up. I had another thought that's been sort of floating around. Love hanging with the other P car guys ( really like 951 guys so I can steal info and maybe get mine running again) but all hot and modded cars really. The coffee and cars deal is way over in Plano. In past few months I've been counting the neat stuff in the neighborhood, meaning Keller & Southlake; 4 R8's, 3 Ferrari s, 4 Lambos (two end to end came down my street about 8:30 last Sat. morning!), a bunch of restored 55-57 Chevy s, street rods (5-6) and today coming back from hitting some golf ***** on Bear Creek Pkwy the 4th excellent Cobra kit car locally. This one with a Roush decal across the windshield. All that and a fist full of Porsches and Corvettes. We need a NE Tarrant monthly perhaps?

D/FW needs a little traction from the 951 community. I went to Cars and Coffe but had to leave at 8:45...I had the only 924/944/968 variant. Was hoping to see some 928's as they have decent community in the area.

I'd support that. I did some searching a few weeks ago to even try to find regularly scheduled car shows in the Tarrant County area, but I've come up dry. There are occasional annual shows, but nothing on a monthly basis. Maybe a Grapevine Cars & Coffee is in order? I wonder if a local car dealer would "sponsor" something to get traffic in their dealership.... Rick?
Will do!
I agree. Either we should start our own little monthly or bi-monthly gathering, or we should join someone else's. I've heard about the local 928 group as well... maybe we could join up with them if they'll have us...

Summer before last there was one on the Tom Thumb lot on 1709 in Keller. Had about 50+ very diverse cars with a leaning toward classics and muscle cars with top flight restorations. Everyone I talked to was Keller- Southlake locals. A LOT of the cars had been done by the same local restoration garage. I was very surprised. Three weeks ago a guy down at the corner had his buddies I guess and had a 9 car show in his circle through drive. All good stuff.
Ditto Rick. Good auto group with lots of history and reputation.

Maybe we could just get a grass-roots thing going at a local coffee shop / shopping center parking lot. Maybe a few local dealerships would sponsor us by hanging a few signs up in their waiting areas? It doesn't need to be complicated...

Let's do it while my car is running properly, just changed the tires/fluids and (fingers crossed) she's running well!
I'm in downtown Dallas, but will travel around the area to meet.
My issue is my travel schedule; Rick has invited me about 100,000 times but I always seem to have a conflict. Amazing I'm still on the distribution list!
