how do you know the engine is pinging?
You can not hear it at high RPM can you?
My engine has "slightly" less power from 5200 to 5600 rpm under and over that it is ok again. I was wondering if this is pinging that i can not hear.

Or a milder form may sound like 2 kernels of popcorn shaken around in an empty coffee can.
A certain "expert" tuner in the S.D. area swore that the severe knock my engine was undergoing during a "dyno tuning" session was my CV joints clicking. Meanwhile, John and TurboTim was yelling and screaming at him to shut it off because they said it sounded like someone was firing a machine-gun with BBs at my engine! Alas, after 4-5 full-load runs with that severe knocking, my headgasket was kaput!
Also don't take this "tuner's" advice of "increasing your boost to make up for a rich mid-range" just because he couldn't figure out how to dial it out with the ARC2.
I figured out later that my last clean pull of 290rwhp was pretty much the limit of the stock injectors. I really didn't have a mid-range richness problem, just a high-RPM lean from the injectors maxing out.
