Default Windscreen Wiper Issue

This is a kind of retarded question. My wiper lever arm keeps popping off the wiper. Its a ball and socket type of thing and I have "padded" out the socket with foil but the problem comes back. Its also a new lever arm, so shouldn't be worn.

Is this a common problem or is it just me. Is there a common fix? Its seems like such a stupid thing to be asking about, that I am almost embarassed to ask!

Pics? I think there should be a nut there that holds the arm on.

I believe he's talking about the wiper transmission, which is a ball/socket arrangement. I'd recommend removing the blower fan assembly and pulling out the entire wiper transmission assembly and do a careful inspection. My guess is you may have cracked the plastic socket on the new rod when it was installed. It shouldn't pop off.

Agreed. Maybe you're not seating the ball inside the socket fully. They take quite a bit of force (at least mine did) to separate and reattach.

That does sound quite likely. As soon as the pesky kids are asleep I am going to check. Thanks!

I popped it back on last night and its survived a few sweeps this morning. It just doesn't seem very tight. Accordingly, I have "lined" the socket with a little tinfoil to make the interference fit much tighter - such that I needed vice grips to pop it back in and it definitely pops in.

Fingers crossed and thanks for the help.
