Question big reds

If I put big reds on the front of my 86't, wouldthat screw up my whole brake proportioning? Enough where I should get a proportion valve. Also I have the right rotors and hats, Anybody know where I could get some adapters and other things to get this going? <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> Like I need to get brakes on the car when the motors all apart.

Paragon, Prospeed motorsports, Lindsey, Kolkeln, Speedforce... those places should be able to hook you up with the right adapter.

For the proportioning valve, people tend to go with the 5/33 valve (off a 928) or a 5/45 valve. You can get either of those valves from Paragon.

Make sure they send you the parts for your car. '86 has different hubs than the later cars. I got mine from Powerhaus, after receiving the wrong parts from another manufacturer.... You'll need the adapter for the caliper and a rotor hat. The Rotors seem to be alot softer than the stock ones as well, so be prepared for that. I used a 928 proportioning valve that increases the rear bias, which seems to be fine. Your stock proportioning valve should be ok, if you prefer the front bias.

Good luck,

Dylan

What type of rotors are you going to use? Whan I went to big reds I used Alcon race rotors and had 4 years of hard use with Pagid orange pads before I replaced them. Now trying AP rotors because my tech's supplier switched vendors...we'll see how it goes..

You can use 3.6t rotors. $125 per rotor from Crescent Porsche in New Orleans

evil944t.

I just realized that you are using separate hats. In that case the factory 3.6t rotors

are not what you need.

The offset of the single piece 3.6T rotors are different then the two piece 933TT rotors so you need the right adaptors. The 3.6T and the 993TT rotors will not fit on the 86' hubs unless you get a special hat or turn your hubs down on a lathe.
