Lightbulb Possible to have Dual 951 Oil Coolers?

I was browsing eBay and saw a 951 oil cooler for sale when the idea came to me. Since the stock external oil cooler is relatively compact and does a good enough job for Porsche to use it, what if we added a second one to our cars?

Cooler engine temps and better oiling for the bearings - hmmm...

What do you guys think?

Hottest setup I have seen, and one I am planning on installing on my 951, are two RX-7 oil coolers mounted in the bumper cover where the driving lights are located. The oil cooler lines are run parallel.

Wow! One RX-7 oil-cooler is already 3x larger than the 951 cooler. Do you really need two of them???

SM, engine-temps won't change with an oil-cooler too much, that's regulated by the thermostat. You don't actually want to run the engine cooler, just not overheated.

The larger oil-coolers will keep the oil thick when you're on the track. It's pretty evident with the drop in oil-pressure from 5-bar down to 3-bar (sometimes 2-bar) that the oil gets really thinned out due to heat and high-revs. Meanwhile, water-temperature and engine-temps are within spec. So cooling the oil more will help keep the oil thick and oil-pressures high for best lubrication. The weakest link is the oil-cooling system, so do whatever you can to help that first.

lol... Necessary? No, but coming from someone who creates extra hp 951's, I figured you, of all folks, would appreciate it!

The guy that was running it was pretty happy with his car, so for what its worth, I don't believe he thought it was overkill. I am planning on doing something similar, altho I am tempted to use the drivers side opening for a ram air intake vent instead.

I added a second oil cooler in series with the stock one on my 951 track car. Itt was one of the first mods I made, so I don't really have a before/after test, but my oil press alwasy stayed very high in the high texas temps, even while many other 951s were haaving their oil lights come on after 20 min on the track.

although, i also blew up two 951 motors, so who knows if the extra oil cooler actually did any good

Why not: Wife in P-imposed penalty box?

Paybacks are a bitch, though. when i get let out'o the 'box, I think Im gonna add either a 993 c2S, 996 or a new m3 as a semi-daily driver....plus probably another 951
