i used to drive with no flip-ups all the time after i got my fog/drv combos. legal? nah. is legality a huge concern w/ my car anyway? NAH.

i'm going to try a set of h3 HIDs (fog size / smaller bulb) in 4300K in my driving lights, yeah i'll have issues w/ dazzle, but not as bad ad w/ my 100W hella lamps in there right now, and since it's my only light source, minus the fogs, any extra light would be nice. mainly, i want the extra "throw" HIDs provide. i've used them in many reflector housings, the bs that says "oh, they won't work" is mainly from ppl who want to sell you a full projector housing conversion etc.

i plan on looking into a MUCH improved setup with grafting a set of 3-4" hella projector lamps (h1 / d2s) into the bumper, or nose panel, not 100% sure, but for now i love my naca-ducted ic-vented nose panel, it makes my car look so evil, i noticed DRASTIC drops in both IC-out temps and intake air charge, so it's worth it. plus the extra weight savings of fiber vs metal, removing the headlight glass/motors/mounts, etc...

so, does anyone want a set of H4 e-codes for CHEAP? pm me

I think that front end looks awsome! You guys don't know how much light those things throw out, so how can you judge him already. It must throw out a considerable amount or he would have smacked something or the previous owner would have smacked something. Maybe he doesn't drive too much at night. Whatever it is, i know they have got to be brighter than my MGB lights, and those are perfectly legal.

Oh, many of us do in fact know how much light those euro fog/driving lights throw out. In my case I have been running them for 12 years.

And it isn't correct to compare them to light thrown out by old sealed beams in a car with aged wiring. The sealed beams may be DOT legal but I bet your car wouldn't pass the minimum lighting standards at this point in time, even though it is still road legal.

I am not going to argue why my lights are the way they are. I like them this way, and as long as I am passing inspection then I will continue to be happy.

Its interesting how the anonymity of an internet forum causes people to say exactly what they think, even when they would never dream of saying that to someone in real life.

I don't think that anyone, upon meeting Badass951, say in a parking lot somewhere, would say, "Listen buddy, I don't want you on the road, I don't like your headlights."

I could be wrong, there could be plenty of people who would. This post is not an attack on anyone, just an observation.

Boostguy - what are you talking about??? Just the other day, I saw a 930 with no rubber lip on his tail spoiler. Well I couldn't just sit idly by - I motioned him over to the side of the road for a citizen's arrest - and for some reason he looked at ME like I was crazy. At this point I was forced to just put a "wheel mark" on his door and be on my way.

Seriously - I don't think I'd argue lighting with Iceshark???!!!

IceShark - just to make your aware, I pointed out in another forum earlier in the week that my headlights may not be quite legal. You DID NOT point this out, and frankly I do not see why you mentioned it if I was already aware. I will not argue lighting with you, as I have yet to, however it annoys me that you are making a deal out of something I WOULD NOT change because of a critic like yourself.

Not to gang up here, but your car is illegal. Your euro lights are not DOT approved, and also are not the correct height or beam pattern for the road. Can you drive with them? Sure. Is it as safe as it should be? No.

There are a number of things on my car that by law, are illegal. Do they put others at risk? Probably not, but just having some 100 watt driving lights as your primaries could cause problems for others on the road.

If you go by the opinion that it does not matter to you, or it works just fine, then driving 150mph on public highways because you can handle it would be justified. You need to think of how your actions effect the other drivers on the road.

No one is telling you to change it. If you get busted, they will make you replace the OEM headlights. That is all anyone has said so far.

As far as your car, it is very well done, and no one has said otherwise.

I don't follow every thread every day on Rennlist so why would you expect me to see it? Or even remember who you are? The only reason I looked at this thread was I am considering venting my nose in the future.

You don't seem to get it, I'm not arguing with you so don't take it so personally. I merely pointed out that it wasn't legal and cops may bother you. And later threw in the performance issue if you planned on doing much night driving in areas that aren't lit up with overhead street lighting.

A lot of guys would like to get rid of the headlight buckets for various reasons and go with some sort of lower lighting in the fog slots so they should be aware of some of the issues. I haven't even bothered listing all the reasons its a bad idea since the guys that have their hearts set on doing it are going to do it no matter what.

I know it is illegal!!! If you drive your Porsche fast and above the speed limit, then you are a hypocrite, because you would be putting other drivers in danger. I doubt there is anyone in any of these forums that could tell me they have not driven above the speed limit. If all of you are pointing out my headlights because of how it affects other drivers, then think about how it would impact other drivers when you are cruising down the road at high speeds.

I know the consequences of my actions, so I do not see the point of all of this.

I think you missed my point.

You say it is ok to have illigal lighting on your car because that is how you want it.

In the same right, I could say it is ok for me to drive illigally over the speed limit because I want to.

Both are dangerous, that is the point.

And furthermore, both could cause harm not only to yourself, but others.

I understand what everyone has said. All I continue to say is this is the way I like my 951. Simple as that...I think all of you have missed my point. I am not trying to be a jerk, I just do not see the point of numerous people telling me what I already know, when I continue to post that I am aware.
