Is it possible for us to just enjoy and comment directly on some pictures of an extremely rare and well developed 944 race car without introducing the 'drama' that seems to afflict so many of the threads on this board?

ARRRRRGH!

Custom. There's nothing on the GTR except for probably the engine bottom end and transaxle that comes from a factory 944 Turbo. It's a pure race car with half the engine from a 944 turbo and a shape that reassembles a 944.

Totally agree. It goes against everything the car stands for..
Also too bad the engine has never been run in that configuration. That would have turned the polished headers into a very nice gold hue.

Here's the rest of the GTR pics I took. Pretty much the same angles. I"ll start a different thread with the 917 and 962 pics I took also some really rare 935 shots.

Love the top-mount swaybar attached to the front of the upper frame section, crossing behind the radiator...

Everything about this car is an engineering exercise. I know of a GTR in So. Cal that has sat in a shop in a air bubble garage for 15+ years. I suspect that this may be that car. This is obviously a show car that for whatever reason has been buffed out and set aside as a trophy.

I dont think so, several stuff on this car is newly manufactured such as headers, sway bars etc.
