Trailing Arm Replacement

Trailing Arm Replacement
Hi all,
I need to replace one of the trailing arms on my 86 951. It looks like the PO had an off road excursion and bent one slightly. At least I hope that is all he bent. Toe is out of spec and I am hoping the trailing arm is the culprit.
The only question I have is re-installing the stub axle nut to the 300+ lb-ft that is called out. As I do not have air tools and I do not know of any torque wrench that goes that high, what is the recommnded method? Breaker bar and a lot of muscle? Any info from someone who has done this before would be appreciated.

Call around tool rental places in your area for a 3/4" drive torque wrench for large trucks, they're usually good for up to 600 ft-lbs. I've rented one locally for doing the bearings on my 944 and recently the 951. Cost is about $18 for a day. I purchased a 4" extension and a 1 1/4" socket for the job (both 3/4" drive). A good impact wrench will easily kick the old nut off and don't forget to purchase a new locknut for reassembly.
