Oil pressure gauge needle flickers at idle

Someone once posted that the flickering gauge is due to bearing wear. Each time the worn part of the bearing passes by the oil galley hole, the pressure drops a little due to the increased clearance.

Crank rotates at idle at 900rpm. That would imply that the gauge should flicker 900 times per minute. Or alternately, it should flicker 15 times per second.
