Post What is this thing?

What is the blue cylindrical component in the photo below? It's located at the firewall behind the fuel rail. One side connects to a vacuum line but I noticed that the other side is not connected to anything. Is it supposed to be connected and, if so, to what?

some sort of pressure regulator, (probably for the climate control?) It's a VDO part and costs $30 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

It is supposed to be connected to something...what...I don't remember.

I think something on the intake side on one side of it...the other I'm not sure. I was under the impression that it was a one-way valve.

That's the 3bar FPR. Pretty sure it comes painted black.

That is a one way valve to keep vacuum for the heater controls to work. It should connect to one of the vacuum lines off of the intake manifold. I see you have a different kind of vacuum line to your FPR on my car I have a T off of the intake manifold one port goes to the FPR and the other to the one way valve.

That is a Check valve for the climate controll to let it retain vacume when vacume dosent exist in the manifold. It hooks up to a little nipple on a plastic T on the large hose going to the brake booster then under the manifold.

Thanks guys. I found the missing connection point. It is indeed supposed to be connected to one of the ports of a rubber splitter coming off the intake manifold. I must have knocked to off by accident at some point.

I didn't know they changed anything though.

Anyhew, the vac line for my FPR goes direct to the intake manifold.
