How to tell if you have 26.8mm M030 sway bar or not
Hello,
I just received what is supposed to be a used 26.8mm sway bar. However, the part# markings have been corroded away to the extent that I can't read the numbers any more so I can't verify if this used part is a 26.8mm bar or some other diameter bar. My original bar is a 24mm bar. I miked this and also checked the part# to confirm this is true. Measured reading showed 24.4mm so was close enough.
I miked the bar and it came out to 29mm, so I'm not sure exactly what I've got here. It should be a M030 sway bar. This bar is slightly (only slightly) thicker than my 24mm bar and it has an orange marking on the passenger side of the sway bar. My 24mm bar has a green paint marking in the same area.
Can anyone who has a confirmed 26.8mm bar tell me if there is an orange dab of paint on the passenger side of the bar or what you measured the thickness of the bar to be?

I just went out back to measure the bar again and it still didn't give me a reading that made sense. I think between the corrosion and the thick paint on the bar, it was throwing the real diameter of the bar off.
I did get the last 3 digits of the bar's part# and it shows 604. I looked this up on the PET CD and it shows a 25.5mm bar!!!!!!!
Damn, I'm going to have to return the bar and go through the hassle of that whole thing. I bought it from PAP-parts. I know they've been selling a bunch of bars recently. Those people buying the bars should check to see what they really received. I wouldn't trust just a mike measurement of the bar unless the bar is totally clean and has no corrosion to throw off the reading.
