Cool Newbie

Hi all-
I am new to the forum and to my 86 951. I just ordered the 951Max chip. I am not removing the cat as of yet. Expected performance changes?

Also, anyone have to replace fuel lines due to cracking?

Pleased to meet you all, and excited to learn more.

Welcome to Rennlist!

I can't speak for the chips, but I can say that if you should replace your fuel lines. All of these cars are pretty old and there have been several engine fires attributed to old fuel lines. Good sources for aftermarket lines are Rennbay and Lindsey Racing.

Default Thanks!

Definitely replacing the fuel lines. The chip is also being accompanied by new fuel regulator to push it from 2.5 to 3-
just curious how high my hopes should be ...

Don't forget the "jumper" fuel line that goes between the rail and fuel damper (the front cylinder on the fuel rail). I recommend the stock Porsche line for that location, it held up just fine for 20 years and most of the SS replacements cost nearly the same.

Welcome aboard! Yes the lucky ones have replaced fuel lines due to cracking the unlucky have replaced them due to fires!

I have a Max chipped 951, it's blast on boost but off boost not so much. If you'd have asked before posting lot's of us would have steered you here:

http://www.roguetuning.com/ at that price point for the A- tune it's a no brainier!

But you'll have fun with the Max chip!

Welcome and post some pix. what's the plan for the car- street/track. Make sure the major maintenance stuff are up to date...timing belt, water pump etc...before going crazy with performance mods.

I put the max chips and 3bar in my 86. Much better pull at 3K on up, seems smooth in all ranges, including idle. No complaints, but I'm still seeking therapy to keep me from ordering a MAF.....
