Is the speedomemter the same in a 944 as it is in a 951, I found a 944 NA car in a salvage yard and i can get that speedometer, but i want to make sure it will work.

depends on the year. later 951's had a 180MPH speedo rather than the 160MPH version.

Pikey is that your car in the avatar? If it is, is that the Lo-Tek gauge pod? Does it take up a lot of viewing space? (sorry to hijack)

I have an 86 951 and i think the car at the yard is an 87 944.

The 86 951 has a 160mph speedo. The only problem you'll have is with the boost gauge. The N/As obviously don't have one, they have the Fuel Economy gauge.

But then that may have been part of the question.....??

The only real way to check is to take notes down on yours, and then go down the yard to look, or get a photo off of the guy if it's too far away.

I wnet and bought it today, I only need the speedo section as it is just my odometer that is busted(i did talk to kla and discoverd that it was not the gear, but the motor that drives the odometer that was broken). I got the whole cluster for $40. If anyone needs any parts from it feel free to email me. It appears to be exactly the same. I will try it out and see if it works. Once I get the car running again that is. (stupid timing belt).
