M030 Sway bar noise
So I installed 968 M030 bars and i'm getting a loud clunk over small bumps. I'm 90% sure it's coming from somewhere around the drop links. The bar fit very hard compared to my stock bar and the 26.8mm bar i had in previously, meaning that it was REALLY hard to get the threaded drop link into the control arm on both sides and has a lot of pressure on that rubber end bushing.
I thought that maybe tightening the end link in the control arm would help, but it actually made it worse. So I'm not sure if the noise is coming from the threaded end of the link rubbing inside the hole on the control arm, or if the bar itself is hitting the bottom of the control arm. There's VERY little clearance between the fat part of the bar and the bottom of the control arm.

Ummmm, what do you mean? yes, everything as far as i know is M030. The drop links, the chassis sway bar brackets, and the bushings. Is there something I should be looking for here that is different?

exactly how the factory bar was in there but with the M030 parts. I mean, you can't use the stock brackets and drop links because that fat bar won't even fit. One thing that seems different is how narrow part of the bar goes into the eye hole it's kind of 'cocked' in there. Like it's not quite going straight through the loop, but there's nothing i can really do to make it straight because that is inherent in how the sway bar is bent.

it is possible to fit it upside down.In a turn the bar will touch the arm and the links are not free
in their optimum position.Saw it on a friends car done during a steering repair.

It is possible to put the bar on upside down, I've done it when I wasn't paying enough attention. It makes it difficult to fit in the manner you have described. The only other reason for the bar to be a PITA to install is if you've got the front of the car in the air with the wheels sagging. You really need to put the sway bar on with the front end on ramps, it is next to impossible to hook up a sway bar with the suspension in full droop.

I've also had a loud clunk in my front end for a few years. Hasn't gotten worse....or better. I hear it mostly during slow speed braking when coming to a stop....
Previous owner said he swapped to M030....wonder if this is my problem.
