So I blew the H/G..
Yesterday when driving at boost the coolant overflow spew out over my windshield and when pressing clutch engine stopped.
Took the car to nearest garage and found that the rest of the coolant had gone into the oil sump.
Drained oil and pressurised coolant system to find more coolant leaking out oil drain plug.
Also spark plug in nr 1 was wet , The others OK .
Now , I do not have a leakdown tester available before tomorrow .
Would it be wise to wait tearing it down until I have done a leakdown test ?
The H/g had just been replaced by my brother as part of taking the head of to fix some broken exhaust studs. when collecting the car I thought it smoked too much , but drove it home without problems. Then it has been sitting for a couple of months before taking it for a spin yesterday. Pressure is set to 1 bar.
I`m expecting the worst but hope for the better
Any opinions on tearing it down or wait and do more test.

It would be wise to have the head die penatrant inspected while it is off...
When the exhaust studs were replaced was the head rebuilt or just the studs replaced?
Was the head checked for flatness before being re-installed?

Head was rebuilt some years ago but the car has hardly been used , maybe 1000km running total for the last 4 yrs.
But it was checked for flatness before re-instaling.
Today it started to snow here so it looks like the season is over anyway, but I need to get the car at Mot before winter... Verdamnt.

Btw :
It got a little late before getting the head of so I did not have the time to inspect cylinder closer but this is what it looked like .
sorry for the crappy pictures but I did not have the time to let the camera acclimate after bringing it in to the garge.
I only replaced H/g once before on a 944t , and that was over 10yr ago with a H/g without those rings (widefire? )
what went wrong here ?

Were the nuts all tight when you removed them? I'd check the deck and the head with a precision straight edge for sure. Odd that they are all uniformly pushed out like that. Wonder if it got hung up on the locating pins or if something got caught between the head and block. Did it leak oil or coolant externally? Did it ever overheat and/or have you checked your exhaust gas temps?
