Brian, this was the problem with the first damper. Second one sealed fine, i took a good whif of the foam and it did not have any indication of fuel smell.

I never did figure it out unfortunately.
My fix was to remove the engine and start preparations for installing a V8.. .
Are you running a stock fuel rail or aftermarket? If its lean at idle, you may just need to adjust the fuel pressure to either 2.5 or 3 bar depending what your car is setup to run. Also the billet rails in general are louder than the stock fuel rail. Not something to really be concerned about.

hmm, this would explain the same exact problem in having.ive been trying to tune the lean spot out with my SMT6 but still having that lean spot in 2nd or sometimes 3rd gear at around 2300-2800rpm.i can hear my injectors pulsing and was about to have a set of 55# injectors sent to witch hunter for cleaning hoping it'll fix this problem.ill keep this thread updated.**forgot to mention its a CEP rail with Bosch damper ( beautifull fit and finish) but I also have the CEP damper I'm gonna try and swap in as well.

My Marren dampener ended up failing after a year or so of moderate use. It was hammering loudly and the fluid filled FP gauge was bouncing. I called Marren and they confirmed that the unit is NOT user serviceable and must be shipped to them for repair. I seem to remember that the diaphragm was distorted and a new one was installed, but that it had to be pre-tensioned. Anyway, I received it back repaired in about a week with no charge. After re-install, no hammering and nominal gauge bounce. Mike

Remember also that each of the injectors should be “floating” in their O-rings and not even touch either the fuel rail or the intake manifold. The small clips on the top ensure the proper installation height.
The floating injectors help attenuate the oscillating fuel pressure.
I typically do a quick check on this, by rotating the installed injectors back and forth and feel for any restriction beyond the O-rings.

Hi Laust,
Thanks for the reply, Ill check if the injectors are hitting the rail or intake manifold, that would explain the pulsating but would that also explain my lean condition?

It is just one of those small things that can make fuel delivery unpredictable, if one or more of the injectors randomly hit the rail or IM.

Update, checked fuel injectors not contacting fuel rail or intake manifold. Changed Bosch fuel dampner with CEP dampner and no lean spike upon full boost. Now to retune via smt6!
