T04B or T04E
What are the differances in these turbos? The inducers are almost identical but the housing on the t04e is so much larger. Is there a benifit to having a larger housing or is it overkill.

The T40B will flow, according to Turbonetics, 90%-95% of the T40E housing.
The T40B with the 60-1 HiFi will make enough HP to produce 500+ HP.
Given this figure, why would you need a larger turbo compressor?
You don't.
Additionally, the 3" inlet of the T40E inlet at 3" is too big to clear the alternator (not to mention the intake manifold). If you have no a/c, and use an a/c drop bracket, then this isn't an issue. But for street cars, it's a big issue. You can't get a straight shot out of the turbo due to the alternator interference.
Further.. in a few days/weeks, I'll show you that a T04B can easily produce 400+hp to the wheels SAE corrected.

I have a T04 with the 60-1 HiFi on my track car. Not a turbo I would want in a street car due to the massive lag. The turbo boost starts around 3500 and pulls like a freight train till redline. Below 3500 it pulls like a coffee grinder...
I did upgrade my stock AFM to the guru MAP kit, so I hope that helps bring the turbo on a bit sooner.

The Pro M seems to offer a pretty large RAnge. It's pretty touchy as well though. I think that if you are going to be investing that much money into your car, get DTA or SDS . It would have made things much easier.
THe car is still a BEAST, it just depends on how well the A/f is set up with the ambient temp. For example, I had the car running so great when it started getting cold out here (flint MI) LOTS of wheel spin, and it was pulling VERY HARD.
But then it warmed up about 20 degrees the following week. WHen I started the car it was squirting way too much fuel. It was missing and everything. I had to bump down FP by like 18psi.
it will never be an autox'er though. I participated in a couple while at school. Have to run the whole course in 2nd gear. Wont even make boost
If I had like a liscense to SOLO I or something I woul probably keep the car. But the way it looks, I'm checking around for a nice 1.8t A4 and Maybe when I get out of school (it has finally caught up with me) i'll have to look for another car, like this one, that I can make a track beast out of.
SO if anyone is interested in a Beast of a turbo with quite a few mods, no power steering, windsheild washer res., cruise control, and a new set of Yoke's. ..... I'm over here.
