Default VIN Sticker......help me out with this car

Seen a 951 thats been standing in a yard 10 years, the owner broke the turbo, got it repaired and never fixed the car again.

M758 is a Turbo S

But the VIN acording to Porsche PET is a normal 220hp version.

The colour and interior is from a SilverRose, but the VIN does not confirm it. What is this car, a SilverRose or just a normal 220 951?

Well, for starters, you could check the code stamped on the block...

Check the engine block behind the headers and look for a stamp on the block which should read M44/52 if it is a turbo S.

I can tell you 1 thing is that the car is optioned with a Limited Slip Diff which is good and indicated by the AOR, although the 51 to the left of it makes me think it is a standard turbo car. Then again with the silver rose paint and interior it SHOULD be turbo S.

Why does it have the AOR gearbox and not give the M220 code?

M758 includes all the rest(LSD, M030.....), or it should give them anyway?

In the third line it sais "951 052", but on the next line it states 051 engine......

mine in 3rd line says 951 352. see below. it is silver rose by vin and engine number. maybe it's worth calling pna and ask them to check their database? other thing - in vin you have ZZZ instead of AA2 like ROW car?

I'd go piece by piece and see if you have the turbo s parts. Start by checking if you have the frame gussets on the front side of the strut towers. Then check the engine block part number, check for the M030 brakes, konis, ect., and check for the cooler loop on the AOR. It should only take a few minutes and no tools to check these few things and you'd only really be left with the turbo, chips, and sway bar diameters in question. Its going to be interesting to see exactly what this car is. Do you have any pictures?

Yes PET VIN shows an ’88 Turbo (ROW) then add the M758, Color and trans code…. voila, a Turbo S Silver Rose it is.

What are your plans?

I would bet dollars to donuts, that it's a Turbos S Silber Rosa
Nobody puts that interior in their car if it didn't come with it
Ask me how I know ....

LM3Z/LM3Z is the "special" code used for all Silberrossa 88 951's, according to the Porsche paint and interior code manual. Also, the VIN would only show it as a "base" turbo, since the "S" was an option. It was produced VERY early in the production year, JN100639 translates as:

J 88 Model year
N Code for place of production
1 Is the third number of the model (951)
00639 is the production number...that car was the 639th 944 type vehicle made for model year 1988.

I know I'm probably gonna start a war, but...

Ed, no one "likes" that interior. At least no one that doesn't know what it means, or isn't "touched" in the head. Now, I like that interior, but at the same time I'm usually pretty happy I don't have it. But, again, like the rest of us here, I like it because I know what it means and because, like all 944/951 enthusiasts, I'm at least a bit off my rocker.

It's a unique interior, and it's cool, to us, but to the sensible it's loud, obnoxious, and pretty awful. And yet... I still want a silver rose.

I'd rather have pasha over the silver rose interior (only on a white or black car though). The burgundy and brown interiors are so horrible!

Bad news, the car has no papers, it has a seizure on it. So it wont be on the streets again, just not possible.

So if I confirm its a SR, the parts are going on my ´86 turbo.

Thanks for the info, I was pretty sure it was a SR, just wanted to confirm

Why don't you just put some parts from your '86 Turbo on it... some small, metal, rectangular parts with numbers and letters stamped on them
