Powerhaus has a complete 968 turbo engine for sale $22,000. Then just sell your old motor. I believe there are SC kits that are avail.

An S2 with a near stock engine can be a great car if set up correctly. I would not limit my search stricly to the turbo unless you are only in the market for a (potentially) high HP machine. I would take my S2 as currently modified over 99% of all turbos, even if they do have more HP.

Sure you can. Make sure you buy all the other parts that go along with the turbo, though. Some of them are necessary just to get the turbo system to work. Others you'll eventually need when the massive torque of the turbo wears things out.

A cheaper way to go about it would be to buy a nice, used 951 motor and put it in the S2- you could probably get a pretty good deal exchange-wise from a place like SFR. An S2 Convertible w/a 951 engine would be SOOOO COOL!!! Might be a strange way to go about it, but it has been done, and if you're looking for serious power, it would definately be cheaper. I do agree w/Tom though, that a nice S2 w/mild upgrades can Be a VERY NICE car- more low end TQ for one thing. Also, the $22K Powerhaus quote is a 968 engine that has been tweeked extensively. You could get it done much cheaper and still get well over 300HP out of it if you wanted to. Call a few places if you're serious...

There's been people who've put 951 engines into their 968 as well.

powerhaus advertises turbo kits for the 3.0 ltr 16 valve cars in general. I have always assumed this applies to both? Call them up and find out for us? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

$22,000 is the price from the powerhaus. I'll wait until ed comes to visit me before I go that route.

Luke,
David at powerhaus told you he will sell you a complete turbo conversion(3.0) for $5500????? If so I've been getting different prices! I would have bought a 968 or S2 rather than building a 951.(best bang for the buck queen) What kind of rods, pistons, turbo?

I think someone left off a trailing zero on that quote number! When I saw David & his 968-turbo conversion at Laguna Seca a couple of months ago, he was very proud of getting 345hp out of it. And said, "...it only costs the owner $25k, do I want one too?"

My vote is for the 968 Turbo built by Vision Motorsports that was featured in the Oct. issue of European Car.

There is really no need to go to 16 valves to turbo. The 3L and over motors use a modified/flow improved head to extract sufficient VE to reach more than 400 HP.

I really like my S2's but my Turbo has more Ted Nugent Maximum Kick *** by any measurement.

If you want a turbo, buy a turbo.
