Post How hot is the external casing of the intake side of Turbo

I am trying to replace the J boot that is in between the afm and turbocharger on my car with something straight. I am having trouble finding a flexible reducer to go from the turbo inlet to my intake. Problem I am having is the turbo inlet connection pipe is 2"OD. The intake I am making is 3" OD similar to the size of the stock afm. Space is a consideration and smooth flow through this contraption is important also. All the reducers I have found wether it be automotive silicone tube or exhaust tube or plumbing supplies don't fit properly. I have found a light gauge flexible rubber that will work. It is only about 3mm thick. So I am concerned whether it can take the heat

Check with sean951. He is making the IC and J pipes. I am going to get a set as soon as I get my Turbo and see what clearance problem I need to solve.

To answer the question, here is a chart from Lindsey racing showing the temps on both side of the Intercooler. The outlet of the compressor has a air temp of 251 F so I would think that the housing would be somewere in that ballpark.

INTERCOOLER PRESSURE DROP TEMP IN TEMP OUT TEMP DIFF
STOCK 1.35 251 109 -142

sean951 makes great j pipe replacemnts and intercooler pipes!

And since you have the airbox out of the way, it only makes sense to get rid of those old 90 degree bending oe intercooler pipes!
