Question help with SCCA class???

I'm having trouble putting my car into a class for SCCA solo racing. Any help would be appreciated. The rule book reminds me of my tax forms. B Prepared; states you can run any turbo, but no mention of wastegate. ASP= no wastegate mods. I am going to try and run Street Mod II, but it is designed for 2seaters.
Current set up:
'86 951 tial wastegate w/mbc(why i'm having trouble classing the car). No computer chips.
Koni adjustables, 250# springs up front and 27mm torsion bars in back, poly bushings in torsion bar mounts and pivot point. Aluminum pressure plate. Stock 16in wheels.

TIA, chris

Chris,
SM2 was designed for the 2 seat sports car, specifically the Porsche. I guess they never thought we could fit 2 people in the back.

Anyway, I'm in the same boat. Modified boost, suspension, fiberglass hood and more. It's SM2 for me.

You might be able to get away with a class called OSP, or Open Street Prepared. It's probably not in your area. I think it is a local class that will be gone once SM and SM2 gets active.

Have fun, be safe!

I am not familiar with SCCA classing, you should give them a call and ask rather than assume. You would not want to enter an event and find that you are in the wrong class and can not run.

Check my sig for what I got on my 951, it classes as an SPO. I think that is the catchall class.

Good luck. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Unless they have changed the rules about 944 turbos in B Prepared (I haven't checked since I ran BP in 2000) you can run any turbo, BUT the maximum inlet size is 54mm. Anything larger and you'll need to get a restrictor plate. The wastegate and boost control are free in BP. Wastegate is considered part of the exhaust in this case. Again, at least that is how it was in 2000. Anything you do to modify the boost (even a LBE) would move you from stock straight to prepared, do not stop in BSP, do not collect $200
SM2 is the place to be, its created for all the cars that are banned from SM, i.e. all Porsches being one. Last year out here SM2 mostly consisted of 2 vortech supercharged 4.6L mustangs, a turboed miata, a 300ZX, and my 87 Turbo.

If you have specific rules questions you can also mail them to hduncan@scca.org for clarification.
