Fast951,
I hear you!! You still didn't say what turbo you are using?????? I'll bet the same one that is going on my car. The #'s are great! Plus quicker spool-up. I've been sworn not to disclose the custom turbo : ) what turbo are you using?

That raises another(the real) question for the experts/guru's? Assuming that the turbo(K27#6vsK27#8) your using has more lag along with more hp/tq. What would you rather have? I've had both on my car and the #8 was +20RWHP. I'd take the 20RWHP myself. What scenario would the less lag car be quickest??? If I'm puttin around town I'm not on the turbo, if I'm going for it my rev's are up. Is the argument that the delay in boost from the first moment of flooring it would be quicker than the additional hp/tq?
Besides there are turbos that can make more hp/tq with less lag! I always see posts that seem to say more power= more lag. NOT!!!

I know the article- I had it in European Car- maybe it was in several mags? It was DEFINATELY the same one- I knew it by the time you got to the color, but the eprom changer was the clincher. I called some of the places listed at the end, and they don't do squat for our cars- it was a wierd situation- I HATE ****ING MAGAZINES! European Car is most of the reason I bought my Turbo S and I pretty much wish I'd never seen it- "bargain performance exotic of the century"- MY ***!!!

Anyway, that particular car, the owner, was planning to add some 968 rear 1/4 windows- I HAVE NO IDEA WHY, but, it turns out to be a difficult proposition, and, I never heard anything else about that car again...

Turbos- these cars NEED to be tuned- someone else mentioned it earlier- correct fuel management. 951's are the absolute worst cars for chips- many of them (according to Chuck Stickley, etc) barely get above stock power levels AFTER chips- you really need a good load dyno to tune them correctly- of course, many people just wing it, and some get INCREDIBLE results(???).

I've given up on the large displacement idea due to several failures I'm aware of, and ~90% of the people I've talked to say they'd NEVER do it again if they had it to do over. I'm just sick of it- Porsche owners are taken advantage of more than any of the other tunable imports out there. I'm just going to rebuild my engine and add a Milledge turbo set-up (injectors, chips, etc)- IF HE'LL EVER GET BACK TO ME- I have a shaved P&P head, and will eventually get a port matched manifold, but that's probably it unless I find a reasonable MAF that doesn't need the ARCII...

K27's- I'd rather have the extra 20HP too Paul, but, you can have the best of both if you control the wastegate, and/or raise compression (mine is 8.3:1). Jon basically scared me away from K27's by talking about back pressures having to be perfect for them. I've heard of people who have gone to K27's (from K26) and LOST power- I'd drive the thing off a cliff- hell, I'm close to that already...

In addition whenever you piggy back the MAF you SCREW the timing and/or fuel maps. Simply put when doing a MAF you need a custom chip - the less adjustments the better.

I agree. MAF's (themselves) don't really help that much anyway- many will tell you, it's only going to give you ~10HP if you're lucky- the rest comes from the chips that came w/it. John A tunes the hell out of his- I don't know how often he has to screw w/it though- I think I'd rather just get an APE (if it were ~1/2 price) and then get the car to a load dyno- also, many people who add MAF's, raise boost at the same time- Jon Milledge told me that when he was tuning 400+HP motors, that the dif b/t MAF and the stock system was b/t 10 & 15HP- same w/P&P heads- they don't do as much as you'd think...

I'd definately do the turbo first, unless the MAF were REALLY cheap- in my case, it would be stupid any other way, as I'm rebuilding the engine anyway....
