I use the porterfield R4 compounds with the stock (non S) calipers. I am totally happy with their perfomance. They survive repeated 130-60MPH stops and keep asking for more.

I've used Pagid Oranges for a few years on my 944 (about no fade on track with SS lines/ATE blue fluid, slotted rotors).
I've switched to Hawk HPs for my 86 turbo, and am very pleased. Haven't gotten those to fade on the street, and judging by the first few miles (they don't grab all that well), I think these are pretty agressive. I like them for the street, and I will try Hawk Blues on track with the turbo when it's ready. I hear very favorable things about the Hawk Blues, but have no personal experience.

I have heard Hawk Blues stop very well, however there have been some reports of paint-unfriendly brake residue actually causing finish problems with them. At least on a few of the M3 digests. I am quite happy with the Pagid Orange track pads, and run Hawk HP plus on the street. I have heard nothing but good reviews on the Porterfields as well.

Seattle944T - do you use the Porterfield R4 on the street? I use the R4S for street and track, but it doesn't hold up real well under severe track use. I was considering swapping the fronts at least to R4's for the track. I've heard the R4 is hard on rotors when cold and dusts a lot. Even Porterfield told me they don't recommend it for street use.

My car is pretty much track only, but I still drive it to/from events and occasionally around for fun. The R4 pads squeal and squeek all the time during low speed street use. They still have good braking force when cold though, still better than the average non sports car. As for rotor wear when cold I haven't noticed it, and the only time I notice the dust is after a track session. But then again, my turbo only sees about 3-4K miles a year, so take that with a gain of salt.
Personally I wouldn't use them on a daliy driver basis just from the noise standpoint.
