Default 18 inch wheels on 951S

Anyone using 18 inch wheels on a 951S?

i think i may go with 18" fikse profil 13, might get a good deal on a used set locally,

recommended?

What are your thoughts? performance levels maintained?

+++UPDATE+++
We put the wheels on to see how it looks;

tires are;
f; 225-40-18
r; 265-35-18

If the offset is correct for the S, you'll be fine. Do a search for wheels and you'll find a lot of information along with pics on various 951's.

I have 18s on my 87 non s, offsets are the same as the S.. looks nice, but remember rubber in 18s depending on width can be pricey!

I'm running 996TT wheels on my 88 951S and they work well. Rubs just a little in the back but that cause they are 295's~ Could probably roll the fenders and be ok.

Do you get slower acceleration with the 18"s?

Are the wheels off of a 951? You should call or email me the serial number information so I can verify fitment. Is this for street or track?

Not necessarily, it is all about rotating mass.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Weight and diameter. Buy a tire has has close to the same approx 24.5" stock diameter (for a 245/45). 275/35s are over 25" which does increase the final drive ratio, hurting accel.

agreed....that's why i chose 285/30/18 and 245/35/18's for my 18x10 and 18x9 CCW's.

BTW, after just 8000 miles the rear rubber is very thin (could have something to do with boost!)

for a 18x10 rear you should be looking for a 65mm offset. depending on tire make and suspension set up a 295 will rub with stock body work. IF you have a "narrow" 295 you will be fine.

I will be running a 295 with rolled fenders on a 18x10 65mm offset on my S2, I already have that setup on my turbo.

For a given offset, ride height and camber also affect rubbing/fitment. I use 7-10mm spacers w/ 285/30's on 10x18et65s w/ about -2 to -2.5 deg camber. W/o the spacers, the tires rub on the inner fender wall during heavy cornering (track use).
