Do you get the chatter noise from the wastgate when you lift off?

like a rally car chatter, sounds like compressor stall but a little different?! might even be compressor stall on rally cars i just assumed that they would set up properly so as not to get stall?!

I'm probably just looking at this too simply....
The wastegate opens with your foot on the floor to control boost. Could be from what 3 to 4krpm until ?. After that does it ever fully close?

I have an open dump and I don't think its all that bad. Then again maybe my exhaust covers up the noise.

I don't have any creep but I haven't had it tied in either so I don't know if it would on my tial or not.

I can see there being a restriction if the wastegate is tied in with a short pipe, the way Porsche did it is better, the main exhaust gas would have cooled/contracted somewhat by that point so introducing the limited wastegate flow wont cause much resistance.

No one has solid info on tie in vs dumped?

I spent a few good hours looking for back to back results and all i found was skyline forums or jap/ricer forums asking the same thing but nothing to do with power/performance, just how cool the noise is.

Or i've been looking in the wrong place.

Most of the forums I have seen generally complain about the noise, I guess the internet is a big place. I do think dump to atmosphere should result in less pre turbine back pressure once the engine is at full boost.

At full boost maybe but how many seconds do most people spend at full boost, getting there is more relevant to me. I took the silencers out of my exhaust and ran it like that for a while, the top end did seem a little stronger but it spooled up later. The people that really know about exhausts aren't likely to be giving up their secrets for free on the internet.

Yeah it depends on what forum you look at.

If its something like "hardtuned" "skylinesaustralia" they all like it for noise.. aka **** factor.

I did it to squeeze the most power i could with the factory engine. but now i'm sick of the noise, i can't put my foot down with out creating a scene. In the car it's not loud, but outside... it's very loud!

I don't think I am the only one that tracks my 951, full boost is pretty usual if you want to set a decent time.

What percentage of a lap do you spend at full boost ?.
