Post Update on control-arm rebuild (pics) (long)

For those of you who remember, I had a hell of a time trying to remove the circlip holding the lower balljoint assembly retainer of my control-arms. Here is a picture of what I found once I removed the retainer plate:

There was no spring in there. I was then able to remove the nylon 'bushing' by gently tapping on the pin of the ball with a hammer (block of wood between hammer and pin surface). Once everything was removed these are the parts that composed the balljoint assembly:

Scott from KLA had concerns about the size of the ball. He thought the ball might from a 924. He thought that 924 ***** had a diameter of 17 mm. I measured the ball that was in there and it's closer to 28 or 29 mm. here is a picture:

Finally, he was also concerned that the interior might have been bored out. Glad to say I had them checked today and they were declared fine. Furthermore, you can see in the next picture that the ball is large enough that it cannot come out through the top opening:

So, now I'll be waiting for new springs from Travis at Rennbay.com to complete the rebuild.

P.S. Scott at KLA: if you read this post I may still need new ***** because I have not disassembled the other control arm yet. I'll keep you posted early in the week.

Thanks for all the suggestions and helpful hints from everyone. God! I love Rennlist.
