Yes it is the basic injector pulse width calculation which uses the VAF signal that I changed. That calculation is performed before any maps (ie. cell values) are applied. I could for instance remove all three maps (idle/pt/wot), put in an appropriate constant multiplier and the car would operate under all conditions with a 14.7 AFR. Replacing the VAF based calculation with a MAF based calculation allows me to retain the stock fuel maps, no skewing the fuel maps like autothority (or the factory on the 968TRS). The important item is that the engine load values are not different between the VAF and MAF so the 3D maps dependent on load remain valid.

That's pretty trick TT! I developed an emulator and corrsponding program for my 951 that seems to work pretty well changing values on the fly. I haven't messed with it in a while though. I'm not the electronics wiz you are and I didn't change the coding, just table values. I think you're program would be a great asset to the community provided it would work reliably (as you eluded to). Keep us posted.

Me, too... if you need a beta tester, my 951 is a rolling lab at this point, so if I blow it up, oh well... I will just put my other engine in it.

Fast 951
I don't know what program you use where you need to remember where the maps are.
I use Marc Skarshinskis DME tuner
http://www.mskar.org/porsche.html
I have then written Spec files for late 951

To get back to the original posts, I understand the 2 most common devices are the MAF kit by Vitesse and the MAP kit by Guru. The MAP device I know about. Its by Link and sold thro kokeln. Not sure about the Vitesse P/B computer, but I have seen the datalogging of thr MAP device. It gives RPM, MAP, Voltage In,(ECU) O2, Zone address and some more. Any device that gives information which can help in the tuning is better than we 951 owners had just a short time ago. It is getting better for us. Look at at some of the software choices we now have.

I have a question. If all the Link MAP boxes are sold thro kokeln, how come they don't sell a kit? Any clues anyone? Could it be the so called "experts " can't keep up. Maybe Link would not allow them to paint it purple.

The PB we sell has a PlayBack mode where you can view your logged data.
The same data can be viewed in an excel format.

Everything you see on the screen (RPM, LOAD, Eng Temp, AMP/Boost, AFR,..) can be logged.. I think there is a way I can log knock as detected by the KLR and will be able to log it and/or flash a light on the dash...

The playback mode allows you to pick the variables you want to monitor. A Pause and Resume functions are available. The playback has been very handy when fine tuning.. As it indicates which cell is being accessed...

PlayBack screen, similar to tuning screen.

Why such a price difference? What include your PB kit? Just curious.

Could I possibley have a copy of your Spec file and perhaps a stock .BIN file
that would work for an 88 951. I would like to study and learn how to do this myself.
Thanks

Yo know what they say "You get what you pay!"

When you get a kit from me, you are supplied with the correct wiring for the 951, Correct software configuration, tuning maps. You get customer support that is second to none. You also get training and Data Log analysis... When you purchase from Vitesse, you are getting much more than just the Hardware.
Vitesse is a solution provider, not a parts reseller. The SMT6 pricing we have is suggested retail for the SMT6 developer kit, not just the unit .
When purchased as part of our kits, it's much less.

If you just want a PiggyBack by itself and you want to do the R&D yourself, you will have to get the developer kit.

We offer a great product, the best support and by far the best bang for the $.

Ask our customers for the support they get. I enjoy helping each and every one of them Spending hours on the phone with them, is a joy.
Perhaps they can elaborate on this.. Some perhaps can share the assistance they receive with things not always related to the kit.

This is much longer than I wanted.. So if you just want parts, Vitesse is not your Vendor. If you want solutions that work, call on us.
If you want an EPROM, they are $5 or less. If you want an EPROM that is programmed for your engine, well it's a bit more than $5.

Not just the hardware!

I was wondering the same thing...I think I would pay $350 for the unit right now. but $750 seems a bit of a markup for just the SMT6 unit.
What else do you offer that drives the price up?
Thanks

Read my previous post. $350 is for the unit not the Developer kit...
