Post Coolant leak / HG

My '87 951 has recently developed a few issues that has me thinking it's time for a complete overhaul involving built motors and turbochargers from UPS.

Came out to a good bit of coolant on the garage floor this morning. Hard to say, but I would guess 12 ounces or so. Coolant tank was still pressurized even though the car had been off for 16 hours.

Still coolant in the tank, but added enough to bring it between the min/max line....

Started the car after work and it warmed up very quickly. With the cap off... no air bubbles visible in the tank, but I had coolant flowing out the tank within 2 minutes. Fans never kicked on. Temp gauge didn't read high though. Put cap back on. Turned the AC on and the fans came on low for 30 seconds, then high.

Shut it down and waiting to see if it spews more coolant.

Compression check done a few weeks ago was good on all 4. Didn't do a leak-down test though.

Just venting...

Hey Matt -

Any chance you're getting white smoke out of the exhaust? You also didn't mention if the coolant came pouring out after work if you drove the car and got on boost a bit.

Do the hoses all feel hard or pressurized? When was the last time you replaced the coolant cap? How does your oil look? When was the waterpump done last? Have you opened the system at all - and not bled it?

Just a couple questions.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

The latest leak was after a leisure 2 mile drive home from work.

hoses don't feel overly pressurized / hard.

Cap is 1 month old

Waterpump is 15k miles old.

I've had to bleed the system a couple of times over the last few months for various reasons and each time I believe I get all the air out. I use the mouth to coolant tank method.
