Post My throttle body is hissing at me!

I've noticed that there is a hissing noise coming from the throttle body area. (vacuum leak maybe) It seems to go away as soon as I blip the throttle and come back as soon as the throttle plate moves back to idle (does not seem rpm dependant). I was wondering if this was A. normal or B. if you guys have any suggestions before I go ripping things apart.

TIA

Justin

Mine sounds the same and I know there are no leaks. I just think its the noise it makes at idle. On mine, its more from the AFM than the throttle body. You do need to make sure there are no splits or leaks in anny connections

Mine doesn't hiss at idle, but does as soon as I start to open it. I always wondered if it was adjusted wrong....

My Turbo S does the same thing. Hissing at idle, goes away with little throttle. Seems to be closer to the AFM than the throttle body. Anyone else.

Check to see if the air adjustment screw is still in the hole on top. They often vibrate out. The engine will run but won't idle well.

If it isn't that, just use your hand to cover off different areas. You can hear the difference when you find the spot.

I tried putting my thumb over the screw and it didn't make a differance. it sounds like I'm not the only one who is hearing this, so maybe I'll go poke around in there tonight and see what I can find... maybe help out a few rennlisters if I find something interesting. Has anyone tried the ear to hose technique for finding noises like this?

I've heard it too, sounded to me like it was coming from inside the AFM. opening up the throttle a little changed the pitche/timbre of the sound. Maybe it's just the sounds of air moving through the AFM?

I found the problem, The check valve at the back of the manifold had broken off of the 4way rubber vacuum connection. It explains my low vacuum numbers because, when I plugged the hole the vacuum jumped up to 15 inHg. In trying to get all the peices apart for a repair, the rubber vacuum peices started crumbling in my hands... so I now have a lyndsey vacuum hose kit on the way and I should have everything back together again soon.

My next question is: Does anyone have the part number for the one-way valve that comes off the back of the 4way connector? It's the 4way that comes right off the manifold banjo bolt and it seems to allow only vacuum to go to the fuel tank vent and heater systems. TIA

Justin

Is the valve plastic, one half blue the other half black. I have one in my car but it comes off a 3 way rubber vaccum connector not a 4 way (but then my car is RHD ROW and has no fuel vent system from the factory)
If we are talking about the same thing then
the part no is 928 537 361 02
There is a small rubber connector that connects the other side of the valve to one of the nylon hard vacc lines the is
Part No: 928 574 747 03
