Question Torsion Bar Upgrade Vs Helper coil over

What do you think of one Vs the other??
I am leaning towards a torsion bar upgrade inc front springs.....not to sure what size though...25mm,26mm,27mm???? The car will see 2-3 track days a year, I hope.

Thanks,

Paul

I went from the stock 87 setup to 400lb springs and Koni coilovers in the front and 29mm torsion bars in the back with no helper springs. Great for the track (I'm about the same as you, a few events a year), and not too brutal for the street unless it's downtown DC.

Also, a friend who had a Turbo S went to the 250lb Eibach setup around the same time, but later went to 600lb springs, 31mm torsion bars and helper springs in the back becuase the 250lb setup wasn't too much different from stock.

BTW... My suspension setup (minus the torsion bars) is for sale, as I just bought the 600lb setup from my friend with the Turbo S.

I personally like the idea of changing the T-bars to larger ones to match the front springs. If you decide later to increase again, I would add helpers then, but the first go around, I would do T-bars- this would allow you to change the bushings and all too. Many might disagree w/this b/c the T-bars a bitch to replace.

Jay, exactly what all do you have to sell? I'm looking for some stuff for my car (Turbo S) as my suspension is worn out. E-mail me directly if you want, and include some prices if you have them...

I've found this page extremely helpful.<a href="http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/gateway/d/admc18/944t/suspension.htm#Torsion%20bars%20" target="_blank">Suspension</a> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

Overboost,

I have 600#F and 400#R with the stock 87 torsion. My shocks are fully adjustable for compression and rebound with 8 click stops or range. So I can tune lighter or stiffer. I opted for the adjustable shock route so I can easily tune without ripping the torsion out..pain ! I bought these from Porsche motor sport germany but are no longer available.
