How much to pay for cone air filter?
I found a cone air filter for 951's on ebay for 90 bucks. Is this a good price or can I find them somewhere else for less. Thanks for the advice

Yea maybe just a cone. Thats not true for something includeing the adapter for the airflow meter on a 951, i doubt youll find that at your local "import shop". Lindsey racing makes a nice one i think its 99$ brand new and it has a mount so the thing just dosent flop all over the place like most of the cheaper ones.

I bought one off ebay for 13$ It was for a Toyota 4runner and since they also use AFM it was an easy fit.

I just drilled 2 new holes and ported the back plate to match the AFM. For 13$ + 10 minutes of work. You can`t go wrong.

It`s not a K&N. But can anybody really see the difference in performance from diferent brands of cone filter`s.
We all know cone filters don`t filter the small particules and are considered not safe for many.
But for 13$ i did not complain...
If you by that and then get a K&N from a local shop, it still cheaper then 90$.
That what i did.`
But then again i should be buying from 951 tuners...

does putting a cone on add hp or not? i have the original set up, where the air is drawn from outside the engine compartment. the set up has a rectangular k&n in it.
the question is, how much more benefit will i get if any if i switch to the cone inside the compartment? aside from looks? will it also be a bit louder on air draw?

I have a run of the mill K&N conical strapped directly to my AFM. No adaptors or anything extra required. I got the biggest one I could find, tho, 4" I think. Very long too.
The only thing is, I added a thin 2cm wide strip of aluminum from tip to base, and lined it up to touch the timing belt casing, so that it wouldn't rub.
I can't say if it adds power, because I haven't driven my car with the stock filter in place.

How did you put a K&N conical filter that has a round end on the stock AFM which has a flat square front with no adapter? Do you have any pics of this.

If it dose it wouldn't be much. 3 to 5 hp. the major restriction is the afm it self. Changing the afm will improve hp quite a bit. I remember when i changed my afm to maf i got 1 extra lb. of boost without ajusting anything (mbc)

I honestly doubt very much that it adds power. The filter is not your main restriction.
it's like this, think of the airfilter as a beer mug.
getting a bigger mug won't let you suck back more beer. You need a bigger mouth, throat, and gut too.

ookay, here is a picture. I guess I DO have an adaptor!! I honest to god thought it was stock, because it was on there when I bought the car!!! Of course, it had a much smaller conical filter on it before, and I never thought about that adaptor thingy. I don't know who made it or where it came from. Ignore the kink in my filter, I didn't fasten it correctly at first and it slipped off the adaptor. The metal slip is there to prevent rubbing agains the timing belt casing, and melting the filter mesh.

What is the largest size K&N filter you can use with the adapter that attaches to the stock AFM. You can order them but you need the front diameter, rear diameter, and length of the filter to order. Also what kind of adapters are you guys using on the stock AFM.

i've seen in kolkeln pn#kl114 for about 110. steep but look good. i've fabricated on of an old hmmwv fuel filler neck. just waiting on polishing it but i think it'll work, just wondering if i'll be messing up something if i took the stock out, also does anyone know if i just plug the small hose in the rear of the box or what do i do with it?
