Post cleaning the crank case ventilation housing

Hello is it possible to clea it and does it helps. My car has 230000 km and I guess it will be dirty.

If so how to clean it and what to use?

There are 3 recessed tabs in the top cover. You need a small flat blade screwdriver to pop the top off, but be careful, it is brittle. The inside is hollow, nothing there at all. The top orafice has a vent hole in it. That is what you want to have clean.

There is also an o-ring under the top cap. If you cut it when you take it apart, you'll have a hell of a hard time trying to find a replacement.

Also... if you bust it, a new one from the dealer is a cool $180! (last I checked)

I better spray some brake cleaner in it and let it as is ;-))

what baout the new valve in the 89 cars that opens after 0.1 bar overpressure?
It is used in the hose that goes to teh top of teh ventilation housing. Is it worth to replace teh stock hose with one that has this valve?
