I assume you mean the ac compressor. What do you mean by "jump starting" it? If you try to run it dry (i.e., without refrigerant with a lubricating oil dissolved in it) you will destroy the compressor very quickly.

I assume you are trying to jump it so it will suck freon in to charge it. If you vac it down, it will suck the first can in on it's own, which is enough for the system to kick on. Anyway, if you are going to do it without sucking it down, then just apply 12v to the compressor connection using a power probe.
