There is a 951 out here in GA that has 156k miles on it. Is the engine/turbo bad after this much mileage? What should i look for when checking out this car? Should i bother with it? I'm not looking to mod it at all, i just want a daily driver.
Thanks.
Thanks.

if looking for a daily driver a higher mileage car might not be a good idea...but alot of times when a car has that much mileage on it...it has many replaced parts....can sometimes be like new if you pick up one from someone who is tired of throwing money at it...i bought mine with 158k on the odometer...how does my car drive ...better than new..i have 20k in receipts and a great porsche history. In the last 10k the upchurch brothers(who had the car before me) replaced the rear end with a quaff, rebuilt turbo, head(and all associated valves, seals, gaskets)hoses clamps, all gear syncro's,rebuilt clutch,shocks,springs..ect.I think you get the point i bought my car for pennies on the doller due to the high mileage.no one wanted it.I bought it and instantly took a 19hr drive home with confidence..it has been a few months and at the meets with my new pant and seats people cant believe the miles on the car.And how great it drives..just makes sure you know what you are getting...a higher mileage car comes with alot of possible risks! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" /> +goodluck

Yeah, but how much did you buy your car for?
This 156k car is for sale for $4,995. Yep. I think the wheels are worth as much as the actual car. It has the turbo wheels found on the later 911's.
So are you basically saying that this would not be any good?

Don't worry about mileage as much as condition. If the maintenance schedule is up to date, it should be fine. Check out the innards with a compression & leakdown test and if they check out even, you should be fine. My car had 225K miles on it with decent 142-148psi compression on it before my co-driver blew it up in last year's OTC. With the recent rod-bearing replacement, the engine would've been good for another 100K miles. Of course during that time, I would have had to do brakes, suspension bushings, etc...
As long as the most costly maintenance items are in decent shape (engine, clutch), that's a great deal you've got on your hands there.

There are lots of 951s on this board with more miles than that. But make sure you get it inspected by someone who really knows these cars. A bad one can get real expensive in a hurry.

Clone,
The wheels on the car you were looking at are what we call twists. They are not worth very much at all (perhaps that should read they are not that expensive). As a general rule they are take offs from Boxsters and you can pick up a set for less than a grand (usually in the $750 range).
