What do you mean by twin turbo 924, and what is amaf? Who care what I post about, If you don't like street racing, don't do it. The only people that could've been hurt were me and him. There were no on ramps or any traffic between us. That's probably the 3rd time I've raced anyone this year. So maybe I think that spending thousands of dollars on a car to take to a track and race for no money is a dumb *** thing to do.(I really don't, just trying to prove a point) So are you trying to tell me that you've never street raced before?

I think he had something wrong w/ his right foot! I've been lapping (my old '86 951) w/ a number of Z-06's, and they will pass a 951 in no time at any speed (unless you've got lots of mods). Really, they're MUCH faster. That's the trouble w/ street racing, it can be more about accepting risk than speed so it's hard to tell if its the car or not.

Hey guys before this goes any further, I'm not trying to start **** or look like an *** hole. I was asked by a rennlist member to post what happend in the race. What I said happened really happened. Maybe I should've gone to 4th but my 5th gear feels so good at 4000 rpms that I just stayed there. I don't have an explanation for this. There's no need to flame me for it. I am the 3rd owner of my car. I have no idea if the 1st owner did any porting of any kind or maybe upgraded the turbo(I doubt it) But I wouldn't know if it did. I'm not some punk kid out making up stories to look cool to a bunch of guys I don't know. I'm an Insurance agent of 4 years and I just bought my first house at 22 years old with no help. I'm not a liar, It pisses me off that some of you are judging me with out knowing me at all. And to guys like ToddK911 and Special tool, sorry about this and thanks for the compliments.

I definately don't think this is the fastes thing around. Its actually not even in the top three fastest cars I've had.(Supra & 2 300ZX TT's) I wish I had a video camera on this one. I'm taking a lot of grief over this. I've driven a Z06 before, I almost bought a 2002 Z06 when I sold my Supra. It didn't feel all that fast to me at the time. Maybe he bought the one I test drove.j/k Maybe he was shifting at like 4000 rpm's, I don't know. Thank you for not flaming me Jim <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

You deserve to be crucified; you have done the unthinkable “street race in a Porsche” we are starting to look like hondaracing.com, the fast and the furious. You are a moron, amet, dumb ***, stupid, who knows.
It is ludicrous how people react to topics like this one, with such hypocrisy I am 42 and I have pulled similar stuns, don’t give me that B.S that you have never raced on the street. Yes I don’t encourage it. Yes it is unsafe for the driver as well for many innocent by standers.
But we all do it, to a certain extend. Does anybody in this forum obey the 65mph speed limit 100% of the time? has anybody ever gone more than 65mph on a public road?. Those who are free of sin cast their first stone. This new guy he’s young, we all have make mistakes and do stupid things when young and some even when old like me, so back off give this guy some slack. Don’t be such a hypocrites. He will growth out this and fortunately become the “Ideal P-driver”

1) street racing is part of america....it's just lately the immature people are deciding to do it in traffic. If the road is spec'd at 55mph, it's obviously a throughfare and not a residential/commerical roadway. Chances are they were only endangering each other.

I am not sure where I read it, but I think the 944 turbo is still one of the fastest 50-70mph cars in the world.

Also HP figures are not enough to pick a winner, weight is a big deciding factor, as is gearing....the 3.375/3.38 ring and pinion is a real 'race' killer for the 951, but it still beats most cars in the 1/4 (a race it's not designed to win).

I do believe though the Z06 is close in weight to the 944 and has 6 speeds so probably geared better....but most races (unprofessionally) are won by the driver.

Chris,

At first your story sounded a little incredible, but then I remembered the time that I beat a '97 Supra with a single turbo conversion (don't know what turbo). All I had at the time was chips, straight through exhaust sans cat, boost enhancer and running about 18 psi on the stock turbo.

I had a friend of mine in the car with me, and I remember him saying something like, "We are about to get smoked!" Just before the guy in the Supra told me to go on the third honk. I really was only interested in seeing his car go, I didn't think I had a chance.

We hit it at 50mph, I shut it down at 100mph about a car length ahead. I have absolutely no explanation for this. The guy in the supra was extremely pissed. He was one of those hothead, takes races personally types. He actually called me a "Mother#@%&%*" and told me that I didn't give him time for his turbo to spool. He demanded that we line up and drag through the middle of town. I declined, he spouted more profanity, and then I left.

The point is, there are tons and tons of variables in street racing, that don't happen on the strip. That Z06 would have smoked you in a standing 1/4 mile. But after my encounter with the Supra, I believe that there are certain circumstances that can cause strange things to happen.

Here is a short list:
-Not just HP, but TQ, 951s make a ton
-Powerband
-Gearing
-Coefficient of Drag
-Driver Skill
-Weight, including extra weight he could have had in the car
-Possible state of "out of tune"
-Air Conditioning on
-Heavier "Bling Bling" wheels

These are just a few off the top of my head.

In short, I believe you, Nice Kill!

Yeah - at the middle of either third or fourth gear, there is not much to keep up with a modded 951. I would imagine (strictly hypothetical because I would certainly never street race) that my modded 951 could smoke 1 or 2 930's and maybe even a 750 Gixxer from that range...

I love racing.....street racing is another story.I have done it before...everyone has and if you say you havent then you are lying. If the road was clear like you said it was and no one was inbetween you and him why you were racing then i dont see a problem with it as long as you are expeirenced in your car at speed and have great brakes and good tires! As for the out come of the race kudos to you! Although you starting the race in 5th instead of 4th leads lots to the imagination...maybe he was just "pacing" you i have a 88' 951 with lbe,mbc,1 bar of boost and i got my *** handed to my by my friends 01' zo6 we went from 60-120 mph and he was a good 5 cars in front of me and he is still stock other than exhaust..I am not saying you didnt win but something was differently up with his ride.951's can make incredible power with just a few bolt ons..some of the guys i race with in local pca are aproaching the 500hp mark on the original block...after i get mine back from lindsey on the 10th i am hoping for about 400 hp (crank)..i bet with a few bolt ons you could have that zo6 seeing nothing but your rear end...goodluck..and great run!
