Did the 180MPH speedometer appear in 1987 models? I thought only the Turbo S and '89's had speedometers that went that high. A friend and I are checking out a '87 and I am wondering if the speedo is original and reflects actual miles. Thanks for any helpful info guys.

I've got 300km/h, never figured out why (it's an '86 car, must have been swapped sometime in the past)

All 87 & newer 951's have 300kmh/180mph speedo.

only the cars AFTER the Turbo s has them (m52) all others are probably instaled later by the PO.

Ive got an 87 and it goes to 180mph, i dont think it has been changed as the car was 100% stock when i got it.

Mine is 180 and is the stock cluster. IIRC, they changed post '86 on all Turbos.

I have one also in my 87 and I can 99.9% tell you the PO did not do anything because of the maintenance records(ALL) and the dealership changed nothing on the cluster/speedo.

uuhh ohh i have an 87 w/ a 160 mph speedo?!?!? all my paperwork concurs w/ the milage shown...

does anyone know exacvtly when the speedo changed?????????/

My '87 has a 180 MPH speedo. I wondered the same thing, mine was modded, but my observation is that it came with it stock. From the way all the other mods on this car were installed (half-a$$), I think I could tell if the cluster was swapped.

Both of my 87's have 180mph gauges.
