Would there be some way to tell that the chips in the DME and KLR are my Autothority Stage II chips? I have reason to suspect that a mechanic might have swapped them out for stock chips last time she was in the shop. There is a definite lack of power, and it really doesn't feel like they are Stage II.
Just thought I'd ask before I go busting into the DME/KLR...

The Autothority chips I pulled out of mine; say:
"Autothority Perf Eng PO 951.1.200 KLR 1990 S/N 6458 Stage II"
"Autothority Perf Eng PO 951.1.200 DME 1990 S/N 6458 Stage II"
"Autothority Perf Eng PO 951.1.200 KLR 1990 S/N 6458 Stage II"
"Autothority Perf Eng PO 951.1.200 DME 1990 S/N 6458 Stage II"

The version-code of the chips and a copyright string is also binary-text encoded inside the chip itself:"Copyright (c) 1992 AutoThority Performance Products, Inc. Fairfax, VA 22031V2.7". The AutoThority labels are white with black typeset lettering:

I've seen some bogus copies on eBay with a dot-matrix font on the label:

The stock chips in contrast, have a silver-metallic label with stamped dark-grey lettering ('86-87 951):
DME-1267355235
KLR-1267355138

Just a little FYI. AutoThority is not the copyright holder of the eprom image. First, common tables of numbers are NOT copyrightable and second, even their MAF kits which do contain new code are still copyrighted by Bosch. You can't add 20 lines of assembly code to someone elses work and then claim the whole thing as your own. So the the little (C)199X is bogus. Personally I think people should pay for an EPROM modified by AutoThority but if they don't all AutoThority or Garret, etc. could do would be to report them to Bosch. If Bosch wanted to, they could go after AutoThority/etc (although there are simple ways around this to protect yourself if you are selling eproms but it does inconvenience your customers.)

Jason, what if you were to add new code to the chips to provided a functionality that was never there? Like say, activating a water-injection jet at a certain boost-pressure...

Your still selling Bosch's code. They are the only one's that could transfer the copyright to you. If you disassemble MS/Word and add some wonderful new wizbang feature that everyone wants and then decide to sell it (modified MS/Word,) Microsoft could and probably would come after you for copyright infringement. Before the DMCA what you would do is sell a piece of software that modified an existing copy of MS/Word. I have not been to court since the passing of the DMCA so i'm not 100% positive how/if things have changed. Legally there is no difference between a guy on ebay selling AutoThority modified eproms he's copied at home and AutoThority themselves. Unless, AutoT is purchasing eproms from Bosch and then modifying those and reselling them. I'm just using autoT as an example, for all we know they could have an agreement with Bosch or they might be buying eproms and then reselling them.

The APE chips that I took out of my 89 951 say the following:
Part #: POR.01.951.320.KLR
and
Part #: POR.01.951.320.DME
I replaced them with Guru Racing chips and bigger injectors so they are for sale if anyone is interested.

SoloRacer,
What size injectors did you buy? What kind of performance boost did you see with the Guru chips and bigger jets?
