Exclamation WTB: 951 in Cali

Here’s what I’m looking for…

* Exterior => The only colors I will consider are black or graphite metallic. However, I understand a 16+ y/o car will have issues with paint, dings, dents, maybe even minor bodywork, which I don’t mind as long as the price compensates for it.

* Interior => I’m pretty flexible in this area. Conditions of the seats are irrelevant, as they will be replaced with aftermarket seats anyways. Cracked dashes, damage to carpet, door panels, trim, etc are fine with me as long as the price compensates for it. Only thing I ask is that the electrical system is in very good working order.

* Mechanical => This is an area where I am not very flexible. I want something that is, mechanically speaking, in flawless shape. Must have had all recent work/service done (belts, clutch, water pump, etc) and records to prove it. Also, I won’t consider anything that has ABS .

* Spending limit => Depends on the condition of the car and the criteria it fulfills. FYI, I’d spend ~ $11k for an ‘86 in showroom condition with 90k miles, stock, records, blah blah blah.

Just a couple other details…
* Under 100k miles with records/receipts/etc.
* Clean title.
* I’m willing to travel anywhere within California.

A long shot, but I could include this toolbox in some sort of trade. It was purchased about a year ago for over $8,000 and only used for a couple of months. Check out the following link for the specs.... My price on it is $5,000 (not negotiable).

Also, I check the following sites a couple times a week. Rennlist, Autotrader, Yahoo autos, cars.com (SJ Mercury), sfgate.com (SF Chronicle), Ebay Motors, craigslist.org, recycler.com, germanusedcars.com, http://www.pca-ggr.org/links.html#ads . If you guys/gals know of any other sites that might help on my quest for a 951, please let me know...Thanks in advance!

-Mustafa

Well, seeing as no one has replied to this message yet, I will. 1989 Turbo S. 131K miles. White, dark blue leather int. Weltmeister chip and shimmed wastegate. Racing Dynamics strut bar, K&N air filter, Lindsey Racing Bypass Valve, 17 inch 5 spoke Antera wheels. New water pump, timing belt, clutch line. Last oil change 1000 miles ago, mobil-1 15W 50. Engine is very strong and it pulls hard. I think 11K is Very reasonable. I know it doesnt meet some of the criteria you are looking for, but since no onehas posted, and I really need to sell this cr, i tought id give it a try! I have pics in my sig.

Thanks Matt. I too saw that graphite metallic on cars.com It has 170k miles! As for your car, I'm sorry but that's not what I'm looking for. I am very very set on picking something up that meets my criteria. Thanks anyways and good luck.

My car's not currently "for sale", but it could be for the right offer. Currently in Modesto.

'87 Blk/Blk
Just turned 83k miles
968 mirrors
Guru Stage 2 Map Kit
test-pipe
Lindsey wastegate, FPR, BOV, FP Gauge
Cup Wheels

Interior is in good shape. Both seats are ripped and one or 2 small cracks on the dash.

Exterior is in good shape, but not excellent. Normal dings, etc.

From your description, I don't think it would be what you are looking for. I think you will have a hard time finding something in showroom stock condition for 10k'ish...

Mledbetter: How much would you be looking to get? I was really hoping for an '86, but an '87 will do as long as it doesn't have ABS . btw, I said I'd spend ~ $11k. I'd be willing to spend a little more if it had a couple mods done, etc.

What's the deal with "no ABS"???

If you don't like ABS, you can simply pull the fuse and presto... no ABS!

It's not that much additional weight. The only thing that really weighs anything is the pump, and that weight is down low, between the wheel axles.

It makes more sense to get a car with it and simply disable it for your own purposes (which I do BTW), but you can easily reenable for the next owner....

My reasoning for the no ABS was stated by Matt. It's not that big of a deal. I'm pretty set on picking up an '86 anyways.

Sorry, I've been out of town for a while.

I wasn't planning on selling mine, so I don't have anything typed up. Let me put together a list of problems, details, and a price estimate for my car.
