How many miles on your clutch??
My 951 has over 42,500 miles on it's second clutch. The first one lasted about 41,000 miles. I'm just waiting for it to go out any day now.
I'm curious what kind of mileage others are getting out of their clutch (understanding that it all depends on how you drive it).
Also, when replacing the clutch, for everyday street use (no Auto-Xing), who's clutch is best? And, is there one that would have the same driveability as OEM, but last longer?
Thanks!!

My 951 had 47k miles before I got it so I can't speak to previous abuse. That said, mine went recently at 129K miles. Actually, it wasn't even my clutch, but the clutch fork that had broken! 2 months of 2 hour each way commute through stop-and-more-stop LA traffic did it in.
My first '86 na from new was at 113k miles when my girlfriend started to drive. Shortly after she 'removed' my exhaust while driving, the clutch started to go.

The original clutch on my car got 80k-miles. Then the PO put in the updated Sachs 'Cup' clutch which lasted 40k-miles. I had upgraded my car with +100hp about halfway though the 'Cup' clutch's lifespan, so I'm sure that helped to wear it out faster.
After that wore out, I put in a Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch and it's got 80K-miles on it, including some racetrack abuse that the previous one never saw. And it's only 1/2 worn. So my conclusion is that the Centerforce clutch will last 4x longer (or more) than the 'Cup' clutch under similar conditions.

Man, I dont get it... I had close to 140K miles on my original '87 951 clutch... and I didnt exactly drive that car easy either! I chanaged the clutch (along with the engine), but the clutch was just fine when I did the swap

yeah, if you match the revs perfect on the shifts and baby the starts, the clutch can last quite a long time. My last Supra wore out at 245k-miles and the original clutch was still on the car. But then I matched revs and shifted without using the clutch most of the time.

The original clutch was chattering (mainly when cold) when I bought the car. That's why I only waited about 3K miles before changing it.
So far, knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with the clutch. I was mainly going on the mileage of the original that made me think that I was going to be due for another replacement.
On the other hand, however, 1 year of 80 mile round trips to work, in stop/go Atlanta traffic probably took a major toll on it as well.
We'll see...

According to the records I received with my car the clutch was replaced one time so far in 1997 with 81,000 miles on the clock. The car now has about 119,000 miles on it. I can feel a vibration in the clutch when you push it in while driving the car hard so I think I will have to tear into it before the clutch is worn out.

Original clutch will last "for ever" if you know how to drive a car with manual transmission.I suppose it's easier for us who have drive with the stick "whole life".I have not owned a single car with auto tranny and i have owned over 30 cars...In matter of fact 99% of cars here in Finland are with stick.

It's ALL about driving style. My '87 had 135,000 when I thought the original clutch went out. It hadn't...the fork was bad. But the clutch had tons of life left. I put in the new Escort disc anyway, so I'm set for another fifteen years at least.

I purchased 89 951 with 93K miles (3K miles after new clutch), I have 170K miles now (so 80K on 2nd clutch). Looking in the little window, I estimate 50-60% clutch worn.
