Default Popping sound from coolant tank

Heard a weird popping sound coming from the hood while sitting idle in a parking lot, after about a 20 minutes drive. Pop the hood to find that it's coming from the coolant tank. An intermittent popping sound. Any ideas on what's going on? I've been having heating problems, which may be related to a bad ground I think (hot ground cable. funky charging voltage), causing faulty gauge readings. Coolant system has been bled twice with a pressure tester, I believe I've gotten all the air pockets out.

TIA.
