It's a dollar less than the VR1!

I use Mobil 1 20/50 V twin motor cycle oil in both my 951 and my 911s and my 240Z. High levels of ZDDP and lower levels of detergents. I change oil and filter once a yr in all 3 . Never had a oil related problem . Ever.

I feel like im the only person on here who used Castrol Syntec 5w-50
Hard to find kinda, but its readily available at Advanced Auto Parts. Really been thinking to change up to something else. What do you all say about going from Synthetic to Conventional (Dino)?
Iv heard good things about Castrol 20w-50. Here in N.VA we get a good mix of full climates. Hot summers, Cold Winters, and everything in between.

Thx

Luckily I have a Swepco dealer that delivers so I use the Swepco 306. Also my mechanic has switched to it w/ the track cars in my avitar with good success.

+1 on the 20W50 Brad Penn. My engine also seemed smoother after the oil change to Brad Penn.

I've noticed that the Bosch oil filter is currently half the price of the Mahle. I've only ever used Mahle, but that's quite a price difference.

Anyone care to comment on the differences between the two, if any?

I've been using VR-1 20/50 for awhile now. Unfortunately this last time the store didnt have the dino version so I had to mix what I already had with VR-1 synthetic. I'll get one or the other in full next time.

I went with the Mobil 1 5W-40 right off. 6.5 quarts in my 951. It flows instantly and is light enough to get in and around those tight tolerances. And enough heat resistance too.

Run it a few hundred miles and then change it out for new Mobil 1 again. Enigine rebuild is expensive. Oil is too, but not nearly so much .

I could likely use the 20-50 down here as it so hot, but the 5-40 seems to be working well. I have not sent in an oil sample for test, but I will do so later.
