Cool Engine number

Hi guys,
I've got my first 944 Turbo!! Yey!
Ok, now the "WOW I got it!!" bit is out the way, down to business.
This car has been a race car for a while and has also been an insurance write-off. No damage was done to the car itself apart from being stolen and then recovered.
Thing is, because the insurance paid out for it, they then didn't want it back on the road and cut all the ID numbers out of it and then sold it to salvage.
I have it and ofcourse, there are no VIN numbers on it apart from the engine number.
This is 44/51 5005753.
I know that the car is an early turbo as it has the early brakes on it.
Can anyone give me a year (month would be even better) of which this engine was produced? I'm just interested in knowing what I have.
Thanks
Mike Ghia

Well, you don't have a Turbo S because that has engine 44/52. In my Porsche Parts & Technical reference book, it says starting in 1987, engine #45H01256 received the updated oil pressure relief valve. So with a # of 5753 I'd guess you have a 1987 or maybe a 88. All 1989 cars came with engine 44/52 so you don't have a 89.
