Thanks.

Talked to Josh a bit last night. Think I may go test drive his LS car just for reference and to explore all my options.

Put the new thermostat in the A6 this morning and only have about two hours of work left to get that car up and running again. Fortunately I was able to get it all done with only taking half the timing belt off and it went right back on in the same marks nice and easy.

Once the A6 is done and the AC working on my 928 I will dive into the 951 again to see what the whole store is.

So sorry to hear this man.

Mine stripped at idle like Doc Wyte said and I ended up not bending any valves. Before you yank the head off it's probably worth trying to do a leak down test or maybe a compression test?

Last time I used Rennbay's hot rod belt, which has held up fine now for 2+ years.

Sounds like my life with my Audi S4. Had the motor out one time for every year I owned the car.

No bueno Cole. Do a compression test yet? Time to double the cylinder count! You know you want to!

I think today I will go buy a leak down tester. I should be able to just rotate the cam assembly by hand to close off cylinders and check for a tight seal.

After test driving that Tesla yesterday I'm half inclined to do an electric conversion, that thing ripped!! The V8 has nothing on the down low torque of that electric motor.

I read everything I can on all forums. It seems as if the Conti - Continental Belts are breaking more often. More and more people are going with the OEM Gates or Dayco Belts only or the Kevlar Belt. It would be helpful to keep track of what Brand of ]ȳs are failing.

Cheers,
Larry

Wink

Sometime this week I will dig for the reciepts and see what ki of belt it was.

Bought a leak down tester today and was able to pressurize ever cylinder.

So it looks like I should be able to just order a timing belt and the car should run again

Looked up the belt kit. Purchased on 10-2009.

Part number 10 9320 123 from Pelican. Check their site for it and there Is an intesting note about the timing belt. Also does not seem to be available anymore.

That's great news Cole, very glad to hear it.

Sounds like you're just 15 minutes away from being back on the road!
